The “ALTERNATIVE” defenition is used in determining an eco smart status:
o In walls this means alternative to brick/mortar, carrying Agrement certification and subsribing to SANS-204 guidelines;
o In roofs this means using insulation that subsribe to SANS-204 guidelines and derived from recycled material or a recognised green (LCA) material;
o In energy supply this means alternative to mainline feed, specifically focusing on solar and wind technology.

The product has to satisfy as an:
• Efficient material;
• Efficient process;
• Efficient structure.

The defenition used is:
• Recognised environmentally fiendly material; or
• Made from recycled material; or
• Used in a roof or wall this product has to lead to a proven energy saving and/or meet the spec determined by SANS-204.
