1. Certification of New Technologies:

AgrementAgrément South Africa`s primary business is the certification of non-standardised construction products, through technical assessments that verify whether the products and systems are fit for purpose. Agrément South Africa is internationally affiliated through its membership of the World Federation of Technical Assessment Organisations [WFTAO].

 

 

2. South African Bureau of Standards (SABS)

sabsSABS, a statutory body, is the national institution for the promotion and maintenance of standardization and quality in connection with commodities and the rendering of services. SABS develops and publishes standards, certifies products, develops technical regulations/compulsory specifications and provides training, through technical committees and in cooperation with industry.

SANS-204 : In October 2008 the South Africa National Standard-204 was published. S ANS 204 is a aligned with international standards to set minimum requirements for the energy efficiency of new buildings in South Africa. The document has been designed for future incorporation into the National Building Regulations. This regulatory guideline may translate into regulations for commercial and public sector buildings and also promote energy efficiency and sustainable building practices. While voluntary at the moment, the Depeartment of Minerals and Energy and Department Trade and Industry will make it mandatory, as soon as is practical. From 10 to 60% energy savings can be expected as a result of implementing the standards.

3. Department of Minerals and Energy
